Athlete Bio

Black Belt Gi & No-Gi World Champion, Gi and No-Gi Brazilian National Champion,
Gi and 3x No-Gi Pan Champion and No-Gi European Champion, Lucas Pinheiro is one of the most experienced athletes of his generation. Pinheiro received a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu from his preview instructor Carlos Holanda. Pinheiro currently represents the Atos Jiu-Jitsu team of champion André Galvão and has been climbing the podium at the biggest tournaments all over the world.

Born in Amazon, Brazil, Pinheiro started Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 9. At Mestre Pina's academy he trained from a white belt to purple belt. At the age of 17 he moved to São Paulo after receiving an invitation from Cícero Costha, master of the brothers Miyao and Leandro Lo. After receiving his brown belt from Cícero, he competed at the IBJJF Worlds Championship, finishing as a runner-up, and received an offer to teach in the United States.

After spending a few years living and teaching in Dallas, Texas, the Brazilian moved to San Diego in 2018 and joined the Atos team, led by Professor André Galvão. In the Atos team, he won his main titles, including the IBJJF Pan American in 2020. He was also champion of the American Nationals, Abu Dhabi Grand Slam and Brazilian Nationals.
