Diego “Pato” Oliveira

Black Belt Gi World Champion
No-Gi World Champion
2022 ADCC Bronze Medalist

IBJJF Pan-American and World Champion with and without the gi, Diego Oliveira Batista, better known as “Pato,” is a Jiu-Jitsu black belt trained by Cícero Costha. Pato is one of the big names today, but he has stood out since the color belts. He has won important titles such as the European, Pan-American and World Championships as a purple and brown belt. Currently, the featherweight fighter represents the Dream Art team.

Born in northern Brazil, Pato started Jiu-Jitsu at age 13 in a social project near his home. He even earned a green belt, but the project ended and Pato looked for a new school to continue training. That's when he joined the Nabil JJ, an academy led by Nabil Abdel Aziz, and graduated as a blue belt. At the age of 14 Pato was already competing as a professional and with the money from his awards he helped contribute to household expenses. At the age of 15 he decided to travel to compete in Rio de Janeiro, but he only had a one-way ticket. After the tournament he talked to Cícero Costha, who invited him to train at the PSLPB in São Paulo. Training under Cícero Costha, he became one of the top competitors in the world in the colored belts, having won practically all the most important titles on the circuit. In 2019, he received a black belt from Cícero. After winning the Pan American and the World Championships in 2021, Pato decided to join the Dream Art team, also based in São Paulo.
